Mechanical Engineering Professor Emmanuel Glakpe elected American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Fellow after nomination from Mechanical Engineering Department Chair Nadir Yilmaz. Dr. Glakpe’s nomination was supported by ASME Fellows from within academia, industry and government positions.

Mechanical Engineering Department Chair Nadir Yilmaz Named SAE International Fellow

SAE International announced that Mechanical Engineering Department Chair Nadir Yilmaz was elected as a 2016-2017 SAE Fellow. Dr. Yilmaz was recognized during ceremonies at the WCX 17: SAE World Congress Experience in Detroit, Michigan on April 11, 2017.

Professor H.A. Whitworth Named ASME Fellow

Mechanical Engineering Professor H.A. Whitworth was elected Fellow of ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) in July 2017. He was nominated by Dr. Nadir Yilmaz, with letters of support coming from academia, industry and national labs.

Mechanical Engineering Department Chair Nadir Yilmaz Receives National Engineering Educator Award

National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) has awarded Dr. Nadir Yilmaz with the 2017 NSPE Engineering Education Excellence Award. Dr. Yilmaz was recognized during ceremonies at the NSPE Professional Engineering Conference in Atlanta, Georgia on July 21, 2017.

Mechanical Engineering Students Presented Oral and Poster Presentations on their Research at Howard University's Annual Research Symposium Thursday April 14th, 2016

Kirsten Lovelace Sims, a current graduate master’s student studying mechanical engineering, presented an oral presentation on her research in the area of cryogenics.
Damon Gresham, a current junior majoring in mechanical engineering, presented a poster at the Symposium on his research involving cryogenics and low temperature heat transfer.
Howard University held it's annual Research Symposium April 14th, 2016 as part of its week of events for Research Week. Three students from the department of mechanical engineering presented oral and poster presentations on their current research.

HU-ASME partners with the Cultural Academy for Excellence

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers Howard University student chapter (HU-ASME) has partnered with the Cultural Academy for Excellence (CAFE) for a number of years with their Saturday Academy. In Spring 2014, HU-ASME won funding through the Diversity Action Grant (DAG) hosted by ASME.
